Work-Learn Programs
To explore career options and gain on-the-job experience,
enroll in a special work-learn program for undergraduates. These
include internships, field study, cooperative education, experiential
learning and community service. You might work in a government agency,
political office, health clinic, research institute, accounting
or architectural firm, nonprofit or community service organization,
or on a farm. Your work-learn situation may be full-time or part-time,
for credit or not for credit, paid or unpaid, and it may last one
quarter or as long as two years. It depends on your needs and interests
and the availability of placements at your campus. All programs
include professional supervision and emphasize learning rather than
routine activities. Different programs have different requirements,
but most are open only to qualified juniors and seniors.
