Transfer GPA

In 2007, the average GPA of transfer students admitted to the University was 3.3. However, the average GPA varies widely by campus and by major. Consult with your counselor or a UC campus representative to learn about the GPA that may be required for admission to particular campuses and majors. The GPA is only one factor by which an applicant is evaluated. Other factors, such as course patterns, are also important. Each campus has its own selection criteria used to select students when the number of applicants exceeds the number of spaces available.

Grades of D

A grade of D in a transferable course is acceptable and may be counted toward the number of transferable units you have completed. You must earn a grade of C or better when completing the transfer eligibility course pattern described in Minimum Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students. In some cases, grades of D are not acceptable in courses used to satisfy major or general education requirements.

Pass/Fail, Credit/No Credit Grades

A course in which you earn a grade of Pass or Credit may be used to clear a subject requirement if your college certifies that a grade of Pass or Credit is equivalent to a grade of C or better. No more than 14 semester (21 quarter) units taken Pass/Fail and/or Credit/No Credit may be used to satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements. Some colleges and departments require letter grades for prerequisite major courses.
