Transfer Selection Criteria

When the number of applicants to a particular campus or major exceeds the number of available spaces, as is often the case, the campus has to choose among qualified students. Using a process called comprehensive review, admissions officers look beyond the required coursework and grades to evaluate applicants’ academic achievements in light of the opportunities available to them and the capacity each student demonstrates to contribute to the intellectual life of the campus.

Every campus and many selective schools and programs have criteria they consider in selecting transfer applicants, in addition to the comprehensive review factors. For details about how the campuses you’re interested in evaluate students, use the campus links at left.

The chart below shows the admission rates for transfer students at each UC campus.
