Scholarships by Campus — UC Davis

Regents Scholarships

Notification of Awards
Freshman Applicants: Award notification begins March 1.
Transfer Applicants: Award notification begins April 1.

Academic Criteria
Freshman Applicants: Initial screening is based on strength and breadth of academic preparation, which may include GPA, test scores and individual initiative. Selection criteria may vary from year to year depending upon the applicant pool.
Transfer Applicants: Requires a minimum GPA of 3.8.

Other Criteria
All Applicants: Other factors considered may include the personal statement included with the application, extracurricular activities and other indicators of academic excellence and promise. Second-baccalaureate students are not eligible.

Transfer Applicants: Must submit a letter of recommendation (see details under Supporting Documentation).

Supporting Documentation
All Applicants: May be contacted in early February for supplemental information.

Transfer Applicants: One letter of recommendation, due in January 2010. Recommentation form, instructions and deadline are available online at financialaid.ucdavis.edu/scholarships.

Alumni Scholarships

These scholarships are not based on financial need. Applicants need not be affiliated with any UC Davis alumnus to apply.

Notification of Awards
Applicants are interviewed in March and April. Most awards are made by mid-April.

Academic Criteria
Freshman Applicants: Requires a minimum GPA of 3.5.
Transfer Applicants: Requires a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Other Criteria
All Applicants: Must be planning to enter UC Davis in the fall from a high school or community college in California, Oregon or Washington. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. If selected for an interview, must be available on date set by local alumni committee.

Freshman Applicants: Must have been admitted by interview date.

Supporting Documentation
Obtain a scholarship application on the Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA) Web site beginning November 3, 2008, or request an application by calling (800) 242-4723.

As part of the scholarship application process, students must submit an original one-page essay addressing a given topic, which will be listed on the website.

Submit the completed application and essay on the CAAA Web site, or mail them to the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, One Shields Ave., Davis, CA 95616. Do not send letters of recommendation. All scholarship applications must be submitted or postmarked by February 2, 2010.

Other Campus Scholarships

Notification of Awards

Other Criteria
All Applicants: Second-baccalaureate students are not eligible.
Transfer Applicants: A letter of recommendation is suggested, though not required. Applications accompanied by a letter of recommendation will be read holistically by the Scholarships Committee, which may result in a more favorable review.

Supporting Documentation
Freshman Applicants: No supporting documentation is required.
Transfer Applicants: One letter of recommendation, due in January 2010. Recommendation form, instructions and deadlines are available online at financialaid.ucdavis.edu/scholarships.
