UC state government relations director named
Steve Juarez, a UCLA alumnus, has been named associate vice president and director for state government relations for the UC system. He will join UC’s Sacramento office June 23.
Most recently Juarez was executive director for J.P. Morgan Securities in Los Angeles and prior to that was a director for the J. Paul Getty Trust.
From 1996-1998, he served as UCLA’s assistant vice chancellor for government and community relations.
He has held government relations positions with Los Angeles County and several consultant and analyst positions in the California Legislature. He will report to the UC vice president of strategic communications and government relations, working in close coordination with university leadership, the campuses and others.
Juarez succeeds Steve Arditti, who retired in December. Karen French, who served as interim director since Arditti’s departure, will stay through the end of the legislative session and continue to work on UC’s priorities in Sacramento.
