What would California be like without the University of California? A lot of the things we take for granted would be missing. UC researchers are behind hundreds of discoveries in health, science, agriculture and engineering that have become part of our daily lives. And they're working to make the future even better.

State energy policies create jobs, save money
California's early adoption of energy-efficient building and appliance standards, fuel efficiencies and other conservation practices reduced consumer spending on electricity and natural gas. Those savings made more household dollars available for retail goods, services and food.
