Accountability Report highlights student success
One year after President Mark Yudof launched UC's first comprehensive accountability initiative, data on more than 130 performance indicators have been collected into the 2009 Accountability Report.
Student success is the focus of the first subject subreport being released. It will offer details on measurements such as time to graduation, degrees awarded, retention of new freshmen and post-graduate plans.
"People deserve an honest answer to the question of how we're doing, and it needs to be backed up by empirical data," Yudof said.
The information on student success is particularly significant now when state budget cuts threaten access to higher education and their success at UC.
Other subreports will follow and be updated throughout the year. The 2009 Accountability Report includes other key quality measurements of UC's performance in its research, education and community service missions. People can look up everything from the number of library books the campuses own to the amount the university spends on each student's education. Many measurements compare UC's performance to that of comparable research universities. Student data offers comparisons by ethnicity, geographic regions and college preparation.
