UC business incubator to aid startups
The California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences – a partnership of private industry with UC San Francisco, Berkeley and Santa Cruz – is helping launch five Northern California bioscience companies.
The QB3 Mission Bay Incubator Network is expanding on the success of the 3-year-old QB3 Garage technology incubator. The Garage turns away up to four startups a week because of its small space.
Now through a partnership with biotech company FibroGen, the new incubator based at Mission Bay in San Francisco will be able to help more young companies get off the ground. The startups will have access to support services and office and lab space in FibroGen's new headquarters.
The incubator network also includes the city, the San Francisco Center for Economic Development and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.
