- UC Extension offers approximately 17,000 continuing education courses each year.
- Campus-based extension programs serve more than 500,000 Californians a year.
- UC Extension receives no state funding. Class fees and a small number of grants and contracts support the program.
UC's road to recovery requires painful actions
The two-year budget I have proposed includes raising student fees a significant amount. I know this is painful to students who have already shouldered so much of the burden of state funding cutbacks. I understand their anger. We must take these actions to preserve the educational quality that our students need and deserve.
