  About this Site

The University of California Copyright Education Web Site is a direct outgrowth of the University Standing Committee on Copyright's continuing commitment to improve the quality and delivery of copyright information, education, and support services available to the UC community.

The site was created to respond to educators' and scholars' needs for information on copyright policies and laws, and how to apply them to academic and scholarly work. The information provided here is intended to educate the larger UC community about education-related copyright issues.

File Sharing
To find out about policies and regulations concerning the use of electronic resources, including information on file sharing, see "Digital Copyright Protection at the University of California" from the Office of Information Resources and Communications (IR&C).

Tech Transfer
To find out about technology transfer, including patents and copyrighted software, see the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT).

Much of the credit for this site goes to Consulting Editor Susan Lessick, Head Librarian at UC Irvine's Grunigen Medical Library and copyright connoisseur. Susan collected, compiled, organized and wrote the majority of the content for the site.
