UC Systemwide Programs

The University of California offers an array of research opportunities to prepare students for the next step on the educational pathway. This page highlights the range of programs available to high school students preparing for an undergraduate degree, undergraduates training for graduate study, graduate students transitioning to postdoctoral appointments, and postdoctoral scholars embarking on faculty positions.

Resources for College

  • California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS)
A pre-college residential experience at UC Irvine and UC Santa Cruz that gives participating high school students access to the laboratories of UC scientists and engineers, enabling them to explore advanced topics not traditionally offered in high school curricula.
  • Pathways
The undergraduate admission information and application network enables students to submit their applications electronically to UC campuses.
  • UC College Prep Online
The program, based at UC Santa Cruz, provides Advanced Placement and honors courses on the Internet, so that more students can be competitive in their applications to UC and other universities.
  • UC Links
This multi-campus program provides access to quality after-school care and technology-based educational activities and resources for low-income youth and their families. UC Links also fosters teachers' use of new technologies for teaching and learning.
