Executive Director Allen Carden. CVHEC hosted a luncheon
for President Dynes with local K-University leaders. CVHEC

Fresno Grizzlies baseball park in downtown Fresno. Dynes,
a native Canadian, attended a game between Edmonton and the
Grizzlies. |

President Dynes with students from UCSF Fresno Doctor's Academy
visiting the site of the new UCSF Fresno center in downtown Fresno. The UCSF
Fresno program provides high-quality care to Central Valley residents, while
training the next generation of physicians. It has graduated more than 2,000
doctors, half of whom stay in the area to practice. The Doctor's Academy begins
this process in high school and seeks to increase the number of students who
go onto become competitive applicants to medical school.

Education and Research Center. Slated to open later in 2004,
the building will serve as the hub of UCSF Fresno's medical
education program and top researchers and physicians to Fresno.

Chancellor Carol Tomlinson-Keasey and President Dynes visit
the UC Bakersfield Center. The UC Bakersfield Center, located
in Assemblyman McCarthy’s district, serves the educational
needs of the region through summer courses, teacher training,
school partnerships, UC admissions workshops and policy forums.

recently showed that contrary to popular beliefs, blueberries
can be successfully grown for market in the Central Valley.

President Dynes has breakfast with over
a hundred local farmers and ranchers – and area legislators,
at the UC Kearney Agricultural Research Center. UC has worked
with the agricultural community for more than a century to
deliver new technologies, innovative farming practices and
cost saving measures. UC scientists and agricultural stations
like the one at Kearney, are internationally recognized for
revolutionizing agricultural practices.
