Other Requirements

Two Universitywide requirements affect all students; these must be met before a student may graduate from a UC campus.

Students must satisfy the Entry Level Writing Requirement (formerly known as the Subject A Requirement) to graduate in any program at the University.

All undergraduate degree programs at the University require that students meet the American History and Institutions Requirement through either examination or enrollment in specific courses. Each campus decides how its students may meet the requirement.

In addition to the above requirements, satisfactory study of a language other than English is required by some colleges, schools, majors or programs. (In some cases, the "e" subject requirement for admission to the University, which requires two years of language other than English in high school for freshman applicants, will satisfy the student’s foreign language requirement at the University. In many cases, however, additional study is necessary at the college level.)
