Transfer Admission Programs — UC San Diego
Transfer Student Services
UCSD offers various services to help students with the transfer process. Articulation agreements have been developed with a number of California community colleges that outline courses that may be applied toward UCSD’s general education and major requirements. These agreements are available at the community colleges and on the ASSIST website.
Preadmission counseling is available through the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools. In addition, UCSD counselors make regular visits to community colleges — including those participating in the Transfer Admission Guarantee and UniversityLink programs (see below) and several others — to offer individual advising and group presentations.

Transfer Admission Guarantee
The Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program assists students at participating California community colleges in transferring to UCSD. TAG students enter into a contract that specifies requirements they must satisfy at a community college and guarantees admission to the UCSD college and term of choice, but not necessarily to an oversubscribed major. Admission to highly selective majors, such as certain engineering majors, is not guaranteed.
TAG students, to meet the University’s minimum admission requirements for transfer students, must complete of at least 60 transferable semester (90 quarter) units; earn a specified minimum GPA and be in good academic standing; clear all subject omissions/deficiencies for minimum eligibility; complete all TAG core courses (which will clear the majority of lower-division general education requirements) with a grade of C or better; and complete additional courses as recommended by the UCSD college the student plans to enter. TAG students may apply for the fall, winter or spring quarter.
This program will be phased out and TAGs wil be made available to students at any California community college by the fall 2009 application cycle. For more information, see uctransfer.org/transfer_admis_guar.html.
