The Information Technology Guidance Committee has been established to engage in a consultative, 18-month systemwide planning process to identify and recommend strategic directions to guide investments in information technology (IT) and the academic information environment.
The formation of this committee recognizes the increasingly important role that information technology will play in sustaining the enhancing the University’s academic quality and competitiveness and in ensuring essential business effectiveness and efficiencies.
At the completion of the process, the ITGC will issue a report that attempts to:
- Identify strategic directions for IT investments that enable campuses to meet their distinctive needs more effectively while supporting the University’s broader mission, academic programs and strategic goals.
- Promote the deployment of information technology services to support innovation and the enhancement of academic quality and institutional competitiveness.
- Leverage IT investment and expertise to fully exploit collective and campus-specific IT capabilities.
UC Acting Provost Rory Hume chairs the ITGC, which is also being led by academic and IT leaders from across the campuses and at the Office of the President.
The ITGC Working Groups (WGs) support the work of the ITGC by providing expert assessments, advice, and recommendations in key focus areas defined by the IT Guidance Committee. The IT Guidance Committee’s role is to articulate strategic directions for system wide IT investments to support UC’s future mission and competitive advantage. The number of working groups will reflect the ITGC’s views of the depth and breadth of research required to surface the strategic IT directions for the University.
