Step 1
Contact your HR Department to establish if they have a payroll giving or give as you earn scheme set up. To do so they will need to register with a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) approved by the Inland Revenue. These are listed on the Inland Revenue website.
Step 2
If your employer is registered with a PGA, that’s great news! Ask for a Payroll Giving Authorisation Form. Fill out the form, give it to your HR dept and they will do the rest! To ensure that your donation reaches the University of California Trust (UK) please ensure that you note our registered charity no., which is 1075405.
Step 3
Please contact us to let us know you have pledged a donation to the University of California Trust (UK) and what it’s for: (for the Allan Buch Memorial Scholarship Fund, or if you are making a donation to a specific campus). We will then confirm that we have received your donation.
If your employer does not have a payroll giving scheme
There are many compelling reasons why they should, not the least of which is that the Home Office is giving offering businesses grants of £300-£500 (thru September 06) to set up payroll giving schemes. Not only that, but the government is matching employee donations up to £10 for a six month period. For more information contact Julie McAdam at the Charities Trust on 0151 286 5129 or visit the Payroll Giving Grants Website. Your employer can read more about payroll giving on the Inland Revenue site. This includes tips, success stories and reasons for your employer to set up a payroll giving scheme.
