Below is a statement from University of California Vice President for Laboratory Management Robert S. Foley regarding the release of the draft request for proposal for the competitive selection of a management and operating (M&O) contractor for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) by the National Nuclear Security Administration.

STATEMENT FROM UC VICE PRESIDENT ROBERT S. FOLEY

UC Laboratory Management staff are reviewing the draft request for proposals, and we will submit comments to the U.S. Department of Energy after a thorough review is completed. We will not be commenting on any specific aspects of the proposal at this time, other than to say that we are very pleased that the Department of Energy recognizes the value and expertise of the LLNL employees and the importance of retaining these world-class scientists and other laboratory workers.

The final decision regarding competition will be made by the University of California Board of Regents. Should the Board decide to compete, I believe we will be in excellent position to submit a strong and winning proposal.
