This is a Notice of Meeting of the University of California Board of Regents on Wednesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 20, 2004. This regular business meeting of the board will be held at the UC San Francisco-Laurel Heights campus, 3333 California St., in San Francisco.
Wednesday's
meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed
by
open session. The Regents will consider action on the university’s
2004-05 budget plan and proposed student fee increases, a fee policy
amendment to include consideration of the full cost of attending UC when
setting student fees, an amendment to move the appointment date of a
student regent from September to July, and the creation of a 457(b) tax-deferred
savings plan for UC employees. Wednesday discussion items will include
the CPEC Eligibility Study and the creation of a new group to continue
to study eligibility and admissions issues, including processes for informing
regents about UC alignment with the California Master Plan; an update
on national laboratory issues, including the contracts competition schedule,
the Berkeley lab director search, and a faculty-led discussion on issues
regarding University management of the Livermore and Los Alamos laboratories;
and a multi-ethnic designation on undergraduate admissions applications
(this item was held over from the March meeting).
Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with closed
sessions to discuss personnel and legal matters.
