This is a Notice of Meeting of the University of California Board of Regents on Wednesday, July 20, and Thursday, July 21. This regular business meeting of the board will be held at the UC San Francisco-Laurel Heights campus, 3333 California St., in San Francisco.
Wednesday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with public comment,
followed by open session. Wednesday discussion items include undergraduate
eligibility and admissions as well as the "One Thousand Teachers,
One Million Minds" initiative to increase the number and quality
of science and math teachers in California's K-12 classrooms (www.universityofcalifornia.edu/academics/1000teachers).
The regents will consider action on establishing the College of Biological
Sciences at UC Davis.
On Wednesday afternoon, the regents will also meet in closed session
to consider personnel and legal matters.
Thursday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with public comment,
followed by an open session of the national laboratories oversight committee,
which will hear information about the status of management contract
competitions and consider action to authorize modifications and an extension
to the Livermore management contract. The regents' finance committee
will then discuss and possibly act on the university's 2005-06 final
budget and hold a preliminary discussion on the 2006-07 budget.
The regents will also receive information on university information-technology
efficiencies and best practices in transportation sustainability. The
full board also will take up proposed professional school fee increases,
an item remaining from the board's May agenda.
