MEDIA ADVISORY: Regents to consider appointment of acting chancellor for UC Merced Thursday

The University of California Board of Regents, which will hold its regular business meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 20, and Thursday, Sept. 21, have added several sessions to the agenda to consider the appointment of and compensation for an acting chancellor for the UC Merced campus.

The meeting will be held at the UC San Francisco-Mission Bay campus's community center, 1675 Owens St., in San Francisco.

On Thursday morning, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the compensation and educational policy committees will meet in closed session to consider an appointment of and compensation for an acting chancellor for UC Merced, followed by a closed session of the full board. After public comment, the compensation committee and then the full board will meet in open session to consider the appointment.

The agenda will also include an open session on Thursday morning to provide an update of the study group evaluating the regents' standing committees and procedures.

On Wednesday afternoon, the regents' nominating committee will meet in closed session to consider committee assignments for regent-designate Benjamin Allen and for recently appointed regents William De La Pena and Bruce D. Varner.
