TUESDAY, JAN. 15
Tuesday’s agenda is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with a closed session of the regents’ grounds and buildings committee to discuss the UC Merced long range development plan and related property matters and to receive information about lawsuits related to the UC Berkeley stadium project, the UC San Diego chancellor’s residence and the UC Santa Cruz long range development plan and biomedical projects. In open session, the committee will consider budget and capital improvements approval for UC Davis student housing, UC Berkeley law building, UC Irvine hospital development and medical center renovation as well as environmental and design approvals for expansion and renovation of the Cowell Student Health Center at UC Santa Cruz, the UC San Diego University House meeting center and chancellor’s residence, the telemedicine resource center at UC Davis Medical Center, and design parameters for the UC Irvine Medical Center clinical laboratory replacement building.
Discussion items include the annual report on sustainability as well as updates on UC Davis Graduate School of Management and Conference Center, preliminary design review for UC San Diego’s Rady Graduate School of Management and the UC Berkeley Campbell Hall seismic replacement building, the housing and dining administration building at UC San Diego, and the UC Irvine campus vision.
The regents’ long range planning committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. to discuss and consider action on University planning priorities.
The regents’ compensation committee will meet in closed session to discuss individual salary items and the use of the Los Alamos fee for unreimbursed salary amounts for key personnel.
Consistent with the regents’ policy, compensation actions will be discussed and then voted on in open session on Wednesday, first by the committee and then the full board. Open-session items slated for Wednesday’s meeting will be posted online as early as possible upon the conclusion of Tuesday’s closed committee discussion.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 16
Wednesday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by an open session of the full board. The regents’ compensation committee will then consider action on items discussed during Tuesday’s closed session, and to continue discussions about competitive compensation for UC employees and the current market position of chancellor salaries, and a proposed performance review process for senior management.
The regents’ governance committee will discuss the work group report on the roles of the UC Office of the President.
After the lunch break, the educational policy committee will discuss reports from the faculty work team of the regents’ Study Group on University Diversity and the work group on undergraduate affordability as well as receive an update on federal issues affecting the University.On Wednesday afternoon, the regents’ educational policy, finance and compensation committees will also meet in closed sessions to consider financial, personnel, real estate and legal matters. The compensation committee will also meet in closed session to discuss the appointment of and compensation for the new vice president for budget.
THURSDAY, JAN. 17
Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by an open session of the regents’ compensation committee to consider the appointment of a new vice president for budget.
Later in the morning, the regents’ health services committee will consider action on a consultation agreement between the UCLA Medical Center and Saint John’s Medical Center Health Services.
The regents’ finance committee will meet to discuss the governor’s proposed budget for 2008-09 and an overview of UC’s risk management. The committee will also consider action on a regent-proposed resolution on stabilizing student fee increases.
The finance committee will then meet in joint session with the educational policy committee to discuss UC participation in higher education bond measures.
The national laboratory oversight committee will receive informational updates on the Department of Energy facilities and activities.
