UC has a partner institution, Sichuan University, located in the southwestern China region where the deadly May 12 earthquake occurred. UC's collaboration with Sichuan University is part of its "10 + 10" academic partnership between the 10 UC campuses and 10 top universities in China. The goal of 10 + 10 is to strengthen and more strategically focus UC's research and educational interactions, including expanded faculty exchange and student exchange.
