The University of California Board of Regents will hold a board retreat on Sept. 21-22, at the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center in Incline Village, Nev. The forum follows the Regents' regular business meeting at UC Irvine this week, and will provide an opportunity for the Regents to discuss long-term challenges and opportunities facing the university apart from the transactional decisions the board must consider at those bimonthly meetings.

The retreat will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday and conclude at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Public comment periods are scheduled for 4:10 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday.

The major areas for discussion will address accountability and performance; long-term financial modeling and planning, including student financial aid options; and governance issues, including the roles of the president, chancellors and the board as well as the board's structure and process.

The retreat agenda is available at www.universityofcalifornia.edu/regents/regmeet/sept08/retreat.pdf.

No audio broadcast of the meeting will be available via the Internet.
