The University of California Board of Regents will hold its regular business meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, through Thursday, Nov. 20, at the UC San Francisco-Mission Bay campus' community center, 1675 Owens St., in San Francisco. Tuesday, Nov. 18
On Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 2:30 p.m., the Regents' grounds and buildings committee will meet in closed session to receive updates on legal issues. The committee will then meet in open session to consider budget, environmental and design approvals for various campus facilities projects (see agenda for project information).
Wednesday, Nov. 19
Wednesday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by open session. On Wednesday morning, the educational policy committee will receive a report on staff diversity and the 2007-08 annual report on private support. The committee will also consider action on the fundraising campaign for UCSF neurosciences programs.
The finance committee will consider action on UC's 2008 financial reports, approval of the 2009-10 operations and capital budgets and authorization to borrow from the Short Term Investment Pool (STIP) and the Total Return Investment Pool (TRIP). The committee will also discuss the 2007-08 debt capital report, revised 2008-09 budget for the Office of the President, ongoing restructuring initiatives, a report on the Voluntary Separation Program at the UC Office of the President, the UC retiree health benefit program's actuarial valuation report and annual actuarial valuations for the UC Retirement Plan.
On Wednesday afternoon, the compensation committee will meet in closed session to consider individual salary actions, regular annual payouts to hospital and investment personnel under performance-based compensation plans previously approved by the Regents, and other items. Consistent with the Regents' policy, all compensation actions will be discussed and then voted on in open session on Thursday.
Open-session items slated for Thursday's meeting will be posted online as early as possible upon the conclusion of the closed committee discussion.
The Regents will also meet in closed sessions to consider personnel, real estate and legal matters.
Thursday, Nov. 20
Thursday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by an open session of the long range planning committee to discuss UC research opportunities, challenges and accountability measures and a joint session of the finance and grounds and buildings committees on the formulation of a new capital funding strategy.
The governance committee will then meet to consider action on proposed revisions to the schedule of reports to the Regents and amendments governing board procedures.
The compensation committee will meet to consider action of items discussed in Wednesday's closed session and other senior management compensation matters.
