WHAT:
"The 2009 Global Health Leadership Forum," an innovative certificate program for high-level health leaders around the world who work for governments, global organizations and private industry.

Organized by the University of California, Berkeley's School of Public Health and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, in partnership with the Center for Research in Health and Economics at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain, the forum will offer workshops on topics such as effective health policy reform, how to achieve an effective mix of public and private health insurance, future health care predictions, cost-reducing innovations, and implications of the global meltdown for investing in health.

WHO:
Speakers will include Peter Berman, lead health economist at the World Bank's Health, Nutrition & Population department and adjunct professor at the Harvard School of Public Health; Sir Richard Feachem, former executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and professor of international health at UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley; George Halvorson, CEO of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan; and Dr. Robert Pearl, CEO of The Permanente Medical Group at Kaiser Permanente Northern California.

DETAILS:
The Global Health Leadership Forum, now in its sixth year, is being held in two parts in 2009 -- the upcoming San Francisco Bay Area session and a June 28-July 4 session in Barcelona. The forum this year is sponsored by Bupa, a private health care organization headquartered in the United Kingdom.
