University of California officials announced today (Aug. 10) that Sacramento Superior Court Judge Loren E. McMaster has extended the injunction he previously placed on the California Nurses Association, the union representing UC nurses, which prevented the union from striking the university on July 21.

McMaster extended the injunction until Thursday, August 25, at which time he will rule on whether or not to permanently restrain the union from striking until negotiations have been completed in their entirety, including the completion of impasse procedures. The judge’s order stated that extending the temporary restraining was necessary in light of the union’s “lateness in filing a critical part of its reply brief and in raising a new issue in the other part of the reply brief.”
