University of California officials announced today (Dec. 9) that they have reached a tentative agreement with University Council - American Federation of Teachers on a new contract for UC's librarians through March 31, 2008.

UC has agreed to keep the details of the agreement confidential during the union's ratification process. Once the contract is ratified, UC will make details of the agreement available.

The agreement with the librarian's union was the second labor agreement in a week at UC. On Dec. 6, the university announced a tentative agreement on a new contract for its research support professionals and technical employee's union through June 30, 2008.
