The University of California Board of Regents will hold its regular business meeting on Wednesday, July 19, and Thursday, July 20, at the UC San Francisco-Mission Bay campus' community center, 1675 Owens St., in San Francisco. [Please see details below about registering in advance.]

Wednesday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by open session. Wednesday morning action items include status of competition and other matters at the UC-managed national laboratories, approval of the University's 2006-07 budget and endorsement of the Kindergarten-University facilities bonds on the November ballot. Discussion topics include the California Institutes for Science and Innovation, graduate student support, digitization of UC library materials, UC and Proposition 209, and the University's 2007-08 budget.

On Wednesday afternoon, the regents will meet in closed session to consider personnel matters, including compensation for certain senior officials and a discussion of restructuring the UC Office of the President.

Thursday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment period, followed by open session of the regents' special committee on compensation. The committee will receive an update on the implementation of the compensation task force's recommendations, an overview of UC's mortgage origination program, and a presentation on various interim job slotting recommendations. The regents will also consider recommended compensation and personnel recommendations actions related to internal reviews and audit findings.

The regents' audit committee will receive an update on the review of senior management travel and entertainment policies. On Thursday afternoon, the regents will consider action to create a standing committee on compensation and review the staff advisor pilot program.

Because this is a new meeting location for the regents' meeting, media interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance with Alfred White (alfred.white@ucop.edu), UCOP Strategic Communications, before Monday, July 17, 5 p.m.

Unlike the Laurel Heights site, reporters and members of the public will enter at the same point at the Mission Bay building. Reporters with visible California Highway Patrol press badges and have registered in advance with UCOP Strategic Communications may enter without going through the screening process with the public.
