The University of California announced the winners of the 2006 Larry L.
Sautter Award Program at the UC Computing Services Conference in UC San
Diego today.

Kristine Hafner, UC associate vice president for Information Resources
and Communications, said five awards were presented this year.

Golden Awards for Innovation in Information Technology

- eBuy, UC Riverside
- Equity Advisor, UC Irvine

Silver Awards for Achievement in University Computing

- ESI Online Earnings & Online W2, UC Office of the President, Oakland
- MALCOM (Mostly Automated Laptop Check Out Machine), UCLA
- TritonLink, UC San Diego

Sponsored by the UC Information Technology Leadership Council, the
Sautter awards recognize information technology innovations that have
the potential to improve UC administrative or academic processes.

They involve the use of technology rather than research, improve
business processes or deliver academic or programmatic materials and
advance the University of California's mission of teaching, research and
public service.

In selecting the winning projects, weight is given to the initiatives
that are unique, user friendly, cost effective, collaborative, and
easily transferable to other campuses.
