The University of California Board of Regents will hold its regular business meeting on Tuesday, May 5, through Thursday, May 7, at the Price Center Ballroom on the UC San Diego campus. Tuesday, May 5

On Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 3 p.m., the grounds and buildings committee will meet in open session to consider budget, environmental and design approvals for various campus facilities projects across the UC system (see the agenda for project information).

Wednesday, May 6

Wednesday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment, followed by open session. On Wednesday morning, the educational policy committee will hear presentations on the Merced campus strategic plan and the Blum Center for Developing Economies.

The long range planning committee will then discuss the annual systemwide accountability report.

After lunch, the educational policy, finance, and grounds and buildings committees will meet in closed sessions to discuss personnel, legal and real estate matters.

On Wednesday afternoon, the compensation committee will also meet in closed session to consider individual salary actions and other items. Discussion items include the appointment of a vice president for human resources and the annual report on executive compensation. Consistent with the Regents' policy, all compensation actions will be discussed and then voted on in open session on Thursday. Open-session items slated for Thursday's meeting will be posted online as early as possible Wednesday upon the conclusion of the closed committee discussion.

The compliance and audit committee will meet in open session to discuss the development of the UC information technology strategic plan, updates on risk services and the ethics and compliance program, and the draft 2009-10 internal audit plan.

The investments committee will consider action on the asset liability study for the UC Retirement Plan, adoption of the 2009-10 expenditure rate for the endowment fund and 2009-10 performance objectives for the treasurer's annual incentive plan. Discussion items include a review of the fixed income program, the Regents' proxy voting policy and the quarterly investment performance summary.

Thursday, May 7

Thursday's meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with public comment and an open session of the finance committee to consider action on the 2009-10 budget for the Office of the President, proposed student fee increase for 2009-10, and adoption of the 2009-10 expenditure rate for the endowment fund and the endowment administration cost recovery rate.

The educational policy and finance committees will then meet jointly to consider action on proposed activities to revise the registration fee policy and to approve professional degree program fees increases for 2009-10 and a three-year plan for professional degree program fees.

The compensation committee will meet to consider action of items discussed in Wednesday's closed session and other compensation-related matters.
