The University of California will host a half-day event showcasing California's leadership in global health Monday (June 8) in Sacramento. The purpose of this meeting is to illustrate how California's efforts in improving global health are benefiting California's financial future, its academic community and its citizens.

Haile Debas, MD, former UC San Francisco chancellor and current executive director of global health sciences at UCSF, will outline plans for the proposed UC School of Global Health, which would be UC's first multicampus school.

Sir Richard Feachem, director of the global health group at UCSF and former executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, will define global health and its relevance to California.

This event is sponsored by UC School of Global Health Planning Office, UCSF Global Health Sciences, UC Center Sacramento and California State Department of Public Health.
