Eight University of California campuses are included in U.S. News & World Report's annual Best Colleges rankings. Of them, five are ranked among the top 10 public universities in the U.S.
Berkeley, UCLA, San Diego, Davis and Santa Barbara are ranked first, second, seventh and ninth (tie), respectively in the publication's list of top public universities. Irvine was ranked 11th; Santa Cruz, 29th; and Riverside, 41st.
Among 262 national universities, UC campuses were ranked thusly: Berkeley, 22nd; UCLA, 25th; San Diego, 35th; Davis and Santa Barbara, 39th; Irvine, 41st; Santa Cruz, 72nd; and Riverside, 94th. National universities are those offering a full range of undergraduate majors as well as master's and doctoral degrees.
