This year's survey is currently available online. It evaluates the top 50 hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties.
Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital each were recognized for excellence in nine of the 10 categories, while UC Davis Children's Hospital ranked in one specialty. In addition, UC's two other medical center campuses are affiliated with ranked children's hospitals: UC Irvine is affiliated with Children's Hospital of Orange County (ranked in eight specialties) and UC San Diego is affiliated with Rady Children's Hospital (ranked in all 10 specialties).
The rankings for Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA include kidney disorders (No. 6), gastroenterology (9), diabetes and endocrinology (11), heart and heart surgery (16), orthopedics (19), neurology and neurosurgery (23), neonatology (24), cancer (26) and urology (39).
"Following years of tradition, we are proud that Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA was once again ranked among the nation's best children's hospitals," said Dr. Sherin Devaskar, the hospital's physician-in-chief and UCLA's assistant vice chancellor for children's health, who holds the Mattel Executive Endowed Chair in the UCLA Department of Pediatrics. "These rankings acknowledge our dedicated doctors, nurses and staff, who proudly deliver great care and compassion to the children and families at Mattel Children's Hospital every day."
The rankings for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital include neonatology (14), diabetes and endocrinology (17), kidney disorders (17), gastroenterology (20), neurology and neurosurgery (22), cancer (23), heart and heart surgery (27), urology (28) and pulmonology (47). The standings reaffirm that UCSF is one of the top four pediatric facilities in California, along with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA.

UC Davis Children's Hospital ranked No. 36 in urology.
