Responding to a tentative ruling made public today (Thursday, March 15) by an Alameda County Superior Court judge, University of California General Counsel Charles Robinson said:
"We are encouraged by this positive development. Because it's a tentative ruling, it would be premature to comment further until the hearing scheduled for tomorrow concludes."
The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, March 16) before Alameda County Superior Court Judge Evelio M. Grillo in Department 31, on the second floor of the U.S. Post Office building, 201 13th St., at the corner of 13th and Jackson streets in downtown Oakland.
The union representing UC campus police and one or more police officers involved in incidents at UC Davis last November requested the court order to halt public disclosure of a report by a UC Davis task force headed by former California Supreme Court Associate Justice Cruz Reynoso and an accompanying report by the Kroll consulting group.
As a result, Reynoso postponed the public release of the report, which had been scheduled for March 6. Both he and UC President Mark G. Yudof expressed a commitment to making the full report accessible to the public.
