(SACRAMENTO, Calif.)-- The child-abuse diagnostic and treatment center at the UC Davis Children’s Hospital will hold its 25th annual conference on child abuse and neglect April 23-25 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 1230 J St., in downtown Sacramento.
The multidisciplinary conference is designed for medical, law enforcement, legal, social work, nursing and mental health professionals involved in the investigation, evaluation and treatment of abused and neglected children.
Featured conference speakers include law professor and author Michelle Oberman, who co-wrote “Mothers Who Kill Their Children: Understanding Acts of Moms from Susan Smith to the ‘Prom Mom’,” and physician Bruce Perry, who will speak on the impact of violence on children in his keynote address.
A one-day medical symposium will be held this year at the conference for pediatric and emergency-department physicians, offering insight into unintentional and intentional head injuries, skin and burn injuries and fractures.
Cost of the conference is $285 before April 1 and $315 thereafter. Single-day registration is $125 before April 1 and $145 thereafter. Attendees will be able to earn continuing education credits.
