The University of California Board of Regents yesterday (Wednesday, March 13) appointed David H. Warren acting chancellor of UC Riverside.
Warren, who has been the campus's executive vice chancellor since 1994, will guide UC Riverside until July 1, 2002, or until a permanent successor to former Chancellor Ray Orbach begins work. The appointment as acting chancellor will not exceed one year.
Orbach, who had served as chancellor since 1992, resigned to become director of the Office of Science in the U.S. Department of Energy.
Warren is a psychologist who received his undergraduate degree in 1965 from Yale University and his doctorate in 1969 from the University of Minnesota. The same year, he joined the Riverside campus, which currently has more than 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
