The Anderson School at UCLA has joined Impact Education and American Express to present the upcoming West Coast Business Leadership Conference. The first event of its kind in Los Angeles, this conference will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Organized by Impact Education LLC, the 2002 West Coast Business Leadership Conference is a one-day executive professional development conference that has attracted some of the world’s top names in business. The purpose of the event is to offer the expected audience of 13,000 business leaders, executives and professionals from around the country an opportunity to hear from leading experts about the latest information and developments in the areas of sales, marketing, management, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, finance, operations, human resources, leadership, strategy, technology, vision development, the economy and world issues.

Edward Leamer, director of the UCLA Anderson Forecast and holder of the Chauncey J. Medberry Chair in Management at The Anderson School at UCLA, will deliver an economic overview to the conference attendees.

Founded 50 years ago, the UCLA Anderson Forecast is one of the most widely followed and oft-cited economic forecasts for the nation and the state of California, and has regularly been recognized as among the most accurate.

Leamer, who also holds academic appointments in the departments of economics and statistics at UCLA, is a fellow of the Econometric Society, a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a visiting scholar at both the International Monetary Fund and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

He has published four books and more than 100 articles. His research papers in econometrics have been collected in “Sturdy Econometrics,� published in the Edward Elgar Series of Economists of the 20th Century.
