“EMBRACING MENOPAUSE” WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 9 PRESENTS HORMONE ALTERNATIVES

Women can learn the latest about both traditional and alternative approaches to menopause at a daylong symposium called “Embracing Menopause,” on Saturday, November 9 at UCSF at the Parnassus Campus.
Menopause happens to all women, but affects each woman uniquely. As many as two-thirds of women suffer hot flashes and most of these also have problems sleeping. What was once a relatively easy treatment choice has become trickier as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has increasingly been found linked to risk of dangerous blood clots, gallbladder disease, and breast cancer.
Faculty presenters from the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health and the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine will emphasize ways in which women can use menopause as an opportunity to focus, listen to one’s body, and establish a foundation for wellness in the second half of life. They will discuss HRT and alternatives for symptom relief and prevention of diseases such as osteoporosis.
The fee for the symposium is $35 and includes lunch and materials. For more information and to reserve a space please call the UCSF Women's Health Resource Center at (415) 353-2668.
