University of California President Richard C. Atkinson will make a major announcement at the Board of Regents' meeting in San Francisco today.

The announcement is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Pacific time -- though it could occur earlier if the meeting runs early -- and will be followed by a press conference at noon.

Reporters have two ways of accessing this event:

IN PERSON: The meeting is being held at UCSF-Laurel Heights, 3333 California Street, San Francisco. Parking is available in the lot on the California Street side of the building. Please bring a media credential and ask for directions to the press room, where you will be given a press badge providing access to the meeting room.

FROM ANOTHER LOCATION: The announcement will be available via streaming audio on the Internet, and the press conference will be available via telephone conference call. (This conference call will replace the conference call that had been previously scheduled for reporters on the subject of the UC budget. The call-in information will remain the same.)
