Santa Cruz, CA –The UC College Prep Initiative will host an Online Teaching and Learning Institute, providing affordable and practical training for 125-150 California educators interested in the using technology to increase their students’ academic access and achievement.
In wake of budget cuts to education, UC College Prep realizes an eminent need for teacher professional development in technology and offers special rates for public school educators to attend the institute. From mentoring students to online teaching, from Web sites to networks, the institute will cover the essential elements of an infrastructure that supports the integration of online teaching and learning into a single classroom or a school's technology plan.
UC College Prep (UCCP) provides online college prep courses, content, test preparation and academic support free of charge to students and teachers from eligible schools. UCCP develops media rich online college preparatory courses that are designed for Internet 2, aligned to California content standards and fulfill admission requirements to the University of California.
UC College Prep also offers professional development to teachers through its annual Summer Institute. Statewide, UCCP has reached over 8000 students, from 469 schools, with representation in 56 of California's 58 counties.
