Business entrepreneur and philanthropist Peter Morton has made a significant donation to UCLA, Vice Chancellor for Medical Sciences and Dean of the UCLA School of Medicine Dr. Gerald S. Levey announced Nov. 21 at a ceremony unveiling new signage and a new donor wall in appreciation of Morton’s support.

The gift will help finance renovations and capital improvements for an outpatient medical building located at 200 UCLA Medical Plaza, which received approximately 750,000 patient visits last year. The gift will also support the construction and equipping of UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital that will be housed in UCLA’s replacement hospital.

“UCLA is delighted to recognize this very special gift by naming one of its outpatient medical buildings in honor of Peter Morton, Levey said. “Mr. Morton’s generous contribution will benefit the community for many years to come.

Morton is the owner of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and Morton’s Restaurant in West Hollywood. He also was one of two entrepreneurs who started the Hard Rock Café restaurants.
