"Bush Science: A Forum on the Bush Administration's Use and Abuse of Science in Policymaking," a University of California, Berkeley, discussion moderated by writer Michael Pollan, a professor at the Graduate School of Journalism.

WHEN: 7:30-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12

WHERE: Wheeler Auditorium, near the center of campus, just northeast of Sather Gate

WHO: Participants will include:

* David Baltimore, president of California Institute of Technology and a Nobel Laureate in physiology and medicine
* Kurt Gottfried, chairman of the Union of Concerned Scientists and professor of physics at Cornell University
* Bruce Buckheit, former director of Environmental Protection Agency air enforcement who retired in 2003 when the EPA restrained investigations of
coal-fired utilities
* David Guston, public policy professor at Rutgers, director of the Center for Responsible Innovation, and author of "Between Politics and Science: Assuring the Integrity and Productivity of Research"
* Andrew Eller, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife biologist embroiled in a fight over his charge that the agency used faulty data to set policy for endangered species
