Earlier this year, border patrol agents launched unprecedented sweeps for undocumented residents in Southern California. Critics of the sweeps said the action targeted thousands of law-abiding Latinos from Ontario to San Diego County as they walked their children to school, drove to work or did their shopping. The sweeps brought the issue of immigration back into the spotlight.

At 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, the Institute for Mexico and the United States (UC MEXUS) in collaboration with the UC Riverside Mexican Student Association, will present a free, public seminar on the issue of immigration, featuring several leading scholars in the area.

The seminar is one of a series that UC MEXUS is offering at each UC campus involving the campus Mexican student association and researchers involved in topics of current concern. The first such seminar took place at UC Davis last month.
