BACKGROUND:
The UCI symposium program will address various topics related to breast cancer, ranging from insights about risk factors and early detection to the latest in research and treatment and why breast cancer is more common in Orange County. Eight cancer researchers and doctors from Orange County will be the featured speakers, with welcoming remarks by Dr. Frank L. Meyskens Jr., director of the Chao Center and recent recipient of the American Society of Preventive Oncology's Distinguished Achievement Award. In addition, representatives from the Russian Cancer Research Center will speak about women's experiences with cancer in Russia.
