Updating a news release issued earlier today (Wednesday, May 17) about the May 23-24 China-U.S. Climate Change Forum at the University of California, Berkeley, a May 23 presentation by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has been cancelled.
Plans for Gore to speak were canceled after a local union threatened to picket the event. Local members of AFSCME, which represents custodians, landscape maintenance workers and food service workers, have previously threatened to picket campus commencements where elected officials were scheduled to speak.
The remainder of the climate change program remains as previously scheduled. For more information on the event, see: http://chinausclimate.org/en/.
