ATTENTION: Business and political writers and editors

WHAT: Joint public hearings at the University of California, Berkeley's Haas School of Business organized by the U.S. Justice Department's Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to explore when business conduct constitutes federally prohibited monopolization, when certain business behavior is legitimately pro-competitive, and where further government guidance would be helpful.

The hearings will be hosted by UC Berkeley's Competition Policy Center and Center for Law and Technology. They will be Webcast live at: http://iber.berkeley.edu/cpc.

WHEN: Tuesday, Jan. 30, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 31, 9:30 a.m. - noon and 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

WHO: Executives from QUALCOMM, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, AMD and other firms will testify on Tuesday. Professors from law, economics and business at UC Berkeley and Stanford University who have experience with the Justice Department and Federal Communications Commission will testify on Tuesday.
