One of the nation's most experienced economic policy makers, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, will address the University of California, San Diego, Economics Roundtable on July 18. Holtz-Eakin is a former director of the Congressional Budget Office and former chief economist at the Council of Economic Advisors under the current President Bush. He is an expert on government spending, tax policy and the economics of aging.
Holtz-Eakin is currently economic policy chair for the John McCain Presidential campaign and previously served at the Council on Foreign Relations focusing on ways economic and political forces interact to influence international relations. Holtz-Eakin earned his Ph.D. in economics at Princeton University in 1985 and subsequently taught there, as well as at Columbia University, prior to becoming Professor of Economics at Syracuse University in 1995.
Holtz-Eakin will address the Roundtable on "Five Steps Toward American Competitiveness." The event, to be held at the Faculty Club on the UCSD campus, will begin with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m and the public is invited. The fee of $50 per person includes breakfast and parking.
