UC
Davis plant diseases and food security:
UC Davis was recently awarded a homeland security grant
by USDA to coordinate a network to monitor natural or
deliberately-caused outbreaks of disease in plants.
UC Davis also received a $5 million
grant from the state to set up the Western
Institute for Food Safety and Security: part of
the institute's mission is to find ways to protect the
food supply from both natural diseases and terrorist
attack.
