Researchers reconstruct Temple of Zeus in tribute to Greek games
The Temple of Zeus in Ancient Nemea played a key role in the ancient Panhellenic Games - which gave rise to today's Olympic Games as the place where athletes honored their supreme Greek god with religious rites before competition. In more recent years, UC Berkeley researchers have been leading the painstaking effort to reconstruct the temple's columns, and they are learning about the structural engineering feats of ancient Greek architects in the process.
