Fasting every other day, while cutting few calories, may reduce cancer risk
Studies over the past 70 years have established that substantial calorie reduction not only can reduce the rate of cell proliferation, a measure of cancer risk, it can extend the maximum life span of rats, flies and other organisms. New research at Berkeley now finds that reducing calories by as little as 5 percent, but only eating on intermittent days of the week, may have similar effects.
